Edwards had criticized members of the Jets organization, calling them “idiots” in a tweet after Sanchez had been benched for McElroy against Arizona. Edwards was still a member of the Seahawks when he sent out the tweet.
Though he apologized, Seattle waived him. The Jets signed him. Even with a sore hamstring he is still the best playmaking receiver the Jets have available, though it’s not certain how much playing time he’ll get against Tennessee.
Edwards, who was part of the two AFC Championship Games under Ryan and with Sanchez at quarterback, said that he and Sanchez are friends off the field. “When you get in the locker room or in the meeting room or the field, that rapport helps to have that trust,” Edwards said..
